In my yoga classes I often talk about different aspects of yoga philosophy and other nuggets of esoteric
Truths that I've collected along the way. The little snippets at the beginning of class became like teasers, and people
wanted more information. Some people felt that they were on a spiritual journey without very many like-minded souls
in their lives to discuss their insights and questions with. So, the potluck was born (since I'm from the Caribbean,
a gathering wouldn't be complete without food!)
The meditation
was added during the 40-day Winter Feast for the Soul at the beginning of 2009! We sample different 30-minute recorded guided
meditations with the purpose of increasing personal and global peace. For people who are new to meditation, a guided
meditation is ideal because someone talks you through the process - you're not just sitting trying to figure out what to do.
We welcome seekers of all sorts who are open to sharing respectfully and
growing through community with others.
When is it?
We meet at Yoga North Park - 5507 North Sawyer
one Friday per month at 7:15pm. The meditation starts at 7:30 and we eat at 8pm.
What do you talk about?
We share what we know and what we've experienced, we question, we wonder and
we joke and laugh. There isn't one expert in the group - we learn from each other. Some people have lots of experience
with energy healing or meditation or studies in esoteric philosophies & yoga, and others don't. We
all try to be open-minded & non-judgmental.
Topics have included the
movie "What The Bleep," synchronicity vs. coincidence, and 2012. We start off with a topic, but might end up somewhere
else. It's usually a small group, and we often just sit around the kitchen table to talk.
Do I have to bring vegetarian food?
There are a few vegetarians in the group, so a vegetarian
option is safe, but not mandatory. Dessert is appreciated
